Lawrence To Pay 2.5 Crores To Rebel Producers

In a first of its kind decision, the Producers Council of the Telugu Film Industry has fined director Raghava Lawrence and asking him to pay a compensation of 2.5 Crore Rupees to  J Baghavan and Pulla Rao, the producers of Rebel film. Lawrence allegedly signed an agreement with the Producers saying the Prabhas-Tamannah starrer would be made with a budget of 22.5 Crore Rupees. However the film ended up being delayed a number of times and the budget ballooned to over 40 Crore Rupees. The movie also unfortunately recieved very low response from the audience.

The Producers then filed a complaint with the Industry body saying their loss amounted to 5.5 Crores. In the decision, the council asked Lawrence to pay the 2.5 Crore Rupee fine to the producers within 30 days and also warned him that any delay in paying would mean he would be fined further and be asked to pay the entire loss of 5.5 Crores. Lawrence’s reaction to this fine and if he will pay the same or not is not known for now.
