India was off to an impressive start, winning 11 gold medals and a total of 15 medals at the start of the Commonwealth games in Apia, Samoa on Wednesday. Of these 11 gold medals, Katila Venkata Lakshmi who hails from AP won the gold in the 53kg junior women’s category and she also won a bronze in the 53kg senior women’s category. Erra Deekshita is the other girl to make AP proud by winning in the 53kg youth girl’s category. Among others who won the gold medal were Atom Indubala Chanu (48kg) and S Thansana Chanu (58kg) in the youth girl’s category, Jamjang Deru (50kg) and Aruna Santa (56kg) in the youth boy’s category, N Sumanbala Devi (58kg) in the junior women’s category, M S Karthik (56kg) in the junior men’s category, Sanjitha Chanu (48kg) and Minati Sethi (58kg) in the senior women’s category and Ranjit K Chinchwade (56kg) in the senior men’s category.
