Ramayapatanam confirmed as the second major port in AP

Ramayapattanam is officially confirmed as the second major port in Andhra pradesh.Few contoversies and political fights went on this port.Finally it was confirmed at Ramayapattanam which is at prakasam district.Initially government has selected 3 places inVishakapattanam(Nakkapalli),Nellore(Duggirajipattanam)and Prakasamdistrict(Ramayapattanam).Already two major ports are there in Vishakapattanam(Vizag port) and Nellore(Krishnapattanam).Further, there are security concerns reportedly being expressed by ISRO and the defence officials as SHAR is near to Nellore (Duggirajapatnam) and Vishakapattanam(Nakkapalli) is close to Naval headquarters in Vizag.And currently there is no big project at Prakasam district.This was could be one of the main reason for sanctioning port to Prakasam district(Ramayapattanam).A step forward ,Shipping corporation got a letter from CM office on this.This will be discussed in central cabinet said by shipping corporation chairman P.Mohan
